Report (in parts) of the 2nd workshop for good dog handling and ring training, which took place on 26th and 27th of August 2006 in Germany (Leopoldstal – North Rhine-Westphalia).

Once again Michael Lehman (Christi ORMOND Dalmatians) was available as the trainer for the exhibitors. Marco Schadegg was available as a judge, who has a reputation as an international judge (breed specialist) and even arrived from Switzerland for this workshop.

  • In the morning: theoretical part from the sight of a judge in a diverting way.
  • In the afternoon: practical part: showing how to behave in the show ring and practicing it a lot.

Sunday was the day for advanced learners and their training in the practical part was more challenging than the day before. Both trainers got a lot of commendation and acceptance by the participants.

Michael Lehman and Marco Schadegg did everything they could in order to get “their message” across to the participants.

At Angela Mikus suggestion, Michael Lehmann made two rounds in the show ring with each dog and showed that he is in good shape.

He succeeded to show to all owners that their dogs can run noticeably better, if they are presented appropriately in a good and self-assured way.

This presentation was very impressive, because some of these spotted dogs are really “headstrong personalities“.

A further and new part in the training for advanced learners was an evaluation sheet made by Michael Lehmann. This sheet hasn’t been made for the dogs this time; it was made for the participants.

Michael Lehmann judged the behaviour of all participants in the show ring with a point-based system. At the end of the day, the four best exhibitors got a cup, which has been donated by Angela Mikus:

1st place: Silke Simon
2nd place: Anne Neumann
3rd place: Bianca Imig
4th place: Axel Waldmann

- Congratulations for their well-earned success!
